    Staff at these 15 firms are happiest with their pay, says latest report

    Loads of major tech firms have been under fire within the last 12 months for his or her surprise layoff announcements, return-to-office battles and a skepticism about whether the Big Tech dream job continues to be alive. Even so, they continue to be a number of the top firms where employees feel happiest with their pay.

    The highest three firms where people feel they’re paid well — Workday, Boston Consulting Group and Uber — even have a number of the happiest employees on the whole, in keeping with Comparably data, which considers compensation in addition to aspects like work-life balance, alignment with company values, holistic advantages and others.

    Meta and Google fell from their 2022 spots (after they were ranked No. 3 and No. 5, respectively), but they continue to be in the highest 15 firms where employees are satisfied with their pay. While employees may feel satisfied with their compensation there, the 2 tech giants didn’t fall into the highest 100 firms with the happiest employees overall.

    Staff at the highest 100 firms with good pay scored their satisfaction at 87.5 on a 100-point scale, compared with the general average rating of 63.5 across Comparably data. Employees expressed their sentiments by answering questions akin to:

    • Do you suspect you are paid fairly?
    • How often do you get a raise?
    • Are you satisfied along with your advantages?
    • Does your organization give annual bonuses?
    • If applicable, are you satisfied along with your stock or equity?

    Herring says firms that not only pay well but are transparent about their pay scales across the organization rank highly on the Comparably list this 12 months. Many are headquartered in California, which enacted a salary range law in January 2023, which applies to employers with 15 or more employees and at the very least one in California.

    And organizations which have valued salary transparency and pay equity for years now are pulling ahead. Herring notes firms like Workday, Adobe and AT&T signed the White House Equal Pay Pledge in 2016 to commit to higher hiring, promotion, and pay policies to shut the racial and gender wage gaps.

    These firms were “specializing in salary transparency and doing gender and race pay equity evaluation long before it was legally required,” Herring says. “I do think that has a positive impact for workers on how they feel about their employer.”

    He hopes more businesses commit to pay transparency and equitable pay practices: “I do think it is a meaningful causal contributor to how employees feel about their company,” he says.

    “Employees overwhelmingly reply to employers being proactive about those elements of their business. So my suggestion could be, for any company that is wondering, ‘Should I do it regardless that I do not have to?’ My advice is, you absolutely should do it.”
